If you are interested, here is  some history of the LEWIS family, most specifically Mary Ann's father, whose wife was aboriginal.

It was daughter Sarah Jane’s (Shuttles) first husband Albert who also drowned. She married him in NSW in 1877. I can’t see her marriages to LEWIS and WILLIAMS.

Eliza Shuttles married David Augustine Gleeson 1873

Moses Shuttles to Alice Byrnes 1886

Fanny Shattles to Henry Dunlop 1896

Charles James Shattel to Ellen Elizabeth Roger 1886 (VIC)

I was trying to connect Gertrude Amelia Shuttle with mother Mary Ann born 1876. She was actually Sarah's illegitimate daughter, I believe. She married as Gertrude Amelia Rogers:

Her death: 11852/1925 LEWIS GERTRUDE A parents ALFRED and SARAH AUBURN

Dear Rootschatters,
A huge thank you for all this wonderful information about Nathan Shuttle and his family. I am still working my way through it all but it's both sad in some ways and very interesting in others.
I will enjoy putting all these facts together, and if anything else occurs to any of you I would love to hear it.
Having said that I am extremely grateful for the effort you have all put in already.
From a happy Shuttle descendant
Best wishes

This has taken me a while to fathom.

Sarah’s two daughters Gertrude and Elizabeth Jane, surname Rogers married two brothers.

1132/1899 LEWIS John A to ROGERS Gertrude A GRANVILLE
5878/1899 LEWIS Henry E to ROGERS Elizabeth J GRANVILLE

John Abraham Lewis is buried with Gertrude. He didn’t show on the inscription disc.

29218/1946 LEWIS John Abraham parents Thomas and May

John Abraham Lewis Grave 4475 8-10-1946 aged 74

5820/1933 LEWIS Henry E parents Thomas and Susannah

Notices: http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article16963980

Independent Zone F Section C Grave 1730
Henry Edward 1-4-1933 aged 64
Elizabeth Jane 6-4-1954 aged 75

LEWIS, Henry Edward 30 Mar 1933 66 - My husb & our father (inscr on footstone - Dad & Mum
LEWIS, Elizabeth Jane 30 Sept 1954 75 - Wife of above

The boys' father: 7150/1913  LEWIS Thomas parents JOHN and SARAH GRANVILLE

Funeral notice for father Thomas, mentions sons but not Sarah:

http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article15421898

THOMAS LEWIS aged 98 30-5-1913 Zone F Independent General E 775. I believe this is the grave next to Sarah. Will have to check the disc.

Sarah died as 'Williams' the following year.

Looks like his wife Susannah is with him:

SUSANNAH LEWIS 59 Year 7-5-1904 Zone F Independent General E 775

No headstone for the Lewis', is just grass.

Added: I'm thinking that Sarah may not have been partnered with the elderly Thomas and that the reference to her as mother in her death notice could possibly have been due to the marriages to the daughters. Easier than saying mother and mother-in-law.

Sarah's marriage?: 4216/1902 WILLIAMS John J to ROGERS Sarah KOGARAH

I think this is John's notices, as there is mention of Hawksbury River and I think it was mentioned in Sarah's notices, too. He is buried in the Catholic section Rookwood:
