Trevelver, St Minver Highlands
« on: Thursday 05 April 18 10:53 BST (UK) »
Hi folks,

Trevelver, once a minor manor house, now a farm, was inherited by a Mrs Yeo in the early 1600s and leased to the Silly family by about 1630. By 1799 Land Tax was being paid by one Petherick Wills. After his death in 1827 the property seems to have been occupied by members of the Beswetherick family, who were still there on the 1901 census.

Please can anyone provide me with more detail or put any more flesh on these bones?

Keith

This may be of interest on the history of the parish (and the property) from Google Books

Thanks Kay, tthaat is very helpful.

It's interesting that the writer claims the first mention of the house to have been in the 14th century when TNA has a reference from 1232.

Thanks Osprey,

That 1234 reference must be the same one mentioned by TNA.

One of the things I'm trying to establish is when the house ceased to be a manor house and became a farm for the first time. Anyone got any ideas?
