It's certainly a puzzle  ???

Either Florence and Jack never married, they married under different names or they didn't marry in England or Wales.

Have you checked WWI service records or CWGC for Jack?

Possibly a red herring but I keep returning to this Frederick Brown in 1891 living at Medlock Street, Hulme, Chorlton with his parents   He is listed as married and a musician

George Brown 69 Whitby, Yorkshire Musical Instrument Dealer
Mary    Brown  Wife 49    Southampton?
Frederick Brown Married 39    Bodmin? Cornwall  Musician

I think in 1861 the son and father are living at lodgers in Newcastle https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:M7F6-TB3

George Brown 35 Widower Hull Yorkshire   Musician
Frederick Brown    9  Bordman? Cornwall

At the moment can't find them in other census years  :-\

Thanks for those 2 updates.... I’ll look into the Manchester one.

I’ve looked through all the war records and although there are many Jack, or J Stanton’s who die, none of them say “husband of Florence”.... which would have been handy lol.

Do you think that Mary is the much younger 2nd wife of George (who is blind) or the slightly older wife of Frederick?  Either way still cannot find anything..!

I think Mary is the second wife of George as he is listed as married in 1891 and a widower in 1861  but they do seem to travel around.   I also can't see a birth for Frederick.   Will continue to fiddle!
