Official civil records of Irish births, deaths and marriages are from 1864 and of non-Catholic marriages from 1845... so depends on the religion the people were.

Birth Certs from 1864 to 1916 free to view here for all districts.

Looking at the RC Ballinhassig  parish it has two Civil Parishes, Ballinaboy and Dunderrow which both come under both the Cork and Kinsale reg districts.

I understand there is a waiting list to see the books or we could possibly pay a researcher.   We already have the 1901 and 1911 census for Julia ahern born 1886.   We would just love to know her birth place to visit.  She was daughter of Julia and John ahern and was in ballinphellic/ballinhassig on these census.   We hv all history after these dates and there are a few with same parent names.

is this the family in 1901
http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Cork/Liscleary/Ballinphelic/1120828/

If this is the correct family there are possible births for the sons to John Ahern and Julia Corcoran.

Is it possible Julia was Mary Julia or similar at birth?

If you mean the Civil Registration books they won't be any different to the online books.

John Ahern and Julia Corcoran had the following children baptized in Ballygarvan Catholic parish:
Johanna, 1871; Denis, 1873; Daniel, 1874; and John, 1875. They are in my database.  It looks like two more sons, Michael and William, were baptized in the South Parish of Cork City in 1877 and 1879, as per https://churchrecords.irishgenealogy.ie

Thank you for the replies.   Yes this was the family.    Thank you for the database information.    I’m unsure if Julia went by another birth name.   Her birthday I understand was 13 April.

I've looked at all the female Ahern birth for 1885 1886 and 1887 in Cork Reg and I can't see any one likely.
There is a Mary to a John and Julia but this John is a carpenter and the address is different from the census.
I haven't checked Kinsale

Did Julia marry Jeremiah Twohig in Ballygarvan church?
It's possible her birth was never registered, or registered incorrectly (I had a Daniel registered as a female called Jane) it might be worth finding out if the church have her baptism.
