Identification of medals please

Can anyone help to identify these medals please? I know he had the DSM and bar along with the 14 Star with clasp and roses and went to India in the 1920s.

It's not very clear but suspect there's British War and Victory medal and maybe an Indian General Service is last one as well a st the first two ..DSM and 14 Star

Have you got his service record? Is he Royal Navy or Royal Marines?

He was a Royal Scots Fusilier
Am I right there is a rose on the first one and a star on the last? i Know the rose meant he had been under fire in 1814 but what does the metal star mean please/

On the first ribbon if he had DSM and bar it signifies the bar (2nd award) the DSM was awarded for bravery/gallantry on active service at sea.
Hard to make out the last ribbon but agree theres something on it.It could be a foreign award.

Are you sure of the identification of the subject of this photo ? As mmm45 has observed, the DSM was awarded to Naval and Royal Marine other ranks for bravery/gallantry on active service at sea. You say your man was a soldier in the RSF, so he would be unlikely to receive one DSM, let alone two !
Looking at the picture I wonder if you mean the DCM (Distinguished Conduct Medal). The naval DSM ribbon is blue vertical stripes with broad white stripes between and these would show up in the photo. On the other hand, the DCM ribbon is dark red with a blue stripe in the centre, which do not show a strong contrast in black & white photos.
Perhaps you could give us a name and any information you have on rank and service which might help to identify the other medals.

You are quite right.  If he had the 1914 Star he would also have received the British War Medal and the Victory Medal.

Medals are worn in order of importance - gallantry, campaign and foreign.  So the last medal does seem to be a foreign award.

There is bound to be an expert Rootschatter who can provide an answer, but my gut feeling is that the last medal would not have been issued by a nation in the British Empire to a British soldier, more likely to be an independent ally (but I could well be wrong!).
