Hi River Tyne Lass, many thank's for taking the time to find and send the information what a
great piece of news for us,I,m up in Sacriston so a trip over to the church and archive's is a
short journey I noticed the Church has a website and contact,I think there's a strong possibility
John Smith may have died back over in Gateshead I need to narrow the death's down  between
there and Newcastle and pop into the library in Newcastle to search the Chronicle.
again many thank's to you and Groom.

You are welcome Steve - I hope you do find Robert at St James.

http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/NBL/DeathNotices/

Have you come across this link?  It shows names of those who had notices in the Evening Chronicle up to 1906.  Even if John died a lot later than this it is still a useful link to have handy.

Best Wishes for your researching. :)

That would be great.  I like to hear of successful outcomes for people who I have tried to help.  So it will be good to hear how you get on with this.

I have also found some of my ancestors on this EC link I have attached.

http://margaret-hall-genealogy.com

I originally found this link on a great North East genealogy website called 'Margaret Hall Genealogy'.  (See above) This is is a very useful website.  Tyne and Wear User guides are also on this.

The 1881 census has John Smith born Wendover Buckinghamshire living in Gateshead age 56 a clothiers assistant
Lydia Ann his wife age54

His son is John Ward Smith age28 his birth was registered Guisbrough 1854 his mothers maiden name is WARD.

If this is your John Smith 1825 then the middle name of WARD belongs to his son and not to him.
