Death Cert
« on: Saturday 07 April 18 16:10 BST (UK) »
How would I go about checking for a Death Cert, person born in Belfast 1914  I have searched Ancestry , but have been able to find him, would the BDM in Balfast be able to help me with only his name, and parents names,

Common  name, so search is exhausting

Regards
Mary

If the person died before 1921 maybe Dublin....
Give a man a record and you feed him for a day.
Teach a man to research, and you feed him for a lifetime.

General Registry Office of Northern Ireland

Have you any idea of when he died?
His father's name might be on a cert if he died young, otherwise you are dependent on the informant being a family member.

Ancestry doesn’t have deaths in Northern Ireland after 1921. Deaths post 1921 are only searchable on-line on the GRONI site up to 1967. After 1967 you need to go to GRONI or PRONI in Belfast in person and search there. Or you can phone or e-mail GRONI and get them to search for you. (There may be a search fee).

No other databases have NI deaths post 1921. GRONI is the NI version of Scotlandspeople. You can view the original certificates on-line on the GRONI website, using the “search registrations” option:

https://geni.nidirect.gov.uk

You will need to open an account and buy some credits. It costs £2.50 (sterling) to a view a certificate.
