Find my Past has military records and there is one for Thomas Gearon b 1864 - event 1900 Location Surrey.
This might be our Thomas.

That is where I might have seen the names Michael and John with variations of the name but I don’t think they are ours.

I agree wholeheartedly with jonw65, what you have found with all the variants of the Gearon surname (that it goes by now) is amazing Heywood.  Can't thank you enough.

Thomas was definitely in the Military and with the Surrey connection, that is one of the records I definitely had but was confused with the Surrey part before now - now it all makes sense.
