The Eldest sister (May) was born in 1905. I have a photo of her taken in 1965 when she was working as a part time nurse.
Also an image of her as a younger nurse - date unclear
I cant see them as the same person as the image with the 'deckle edge' (thanks Gadget) ?

Light bulb moment
Could the image be their mother 1882 -1935?

It could be ~

I've to put them side by side. Think I've distorted unknown's face slightly

(She does look very like Winifred )

Thanks Gadget for setting them up like that
I think this could be likely, I've added my late nan (Evelyn) in for good measure (sister of Winifred and May).
Big confession.... May had another mother (sorry just remembered) so couldn't resemble unknown lady if it is her mother  :-[

It's a puzzle as the unknown does look like an older Winifred with her parting changed  :-\

Just added Evelyn for comparison.

Seeing the full image of the unknown lady I would say she was in her 50s looking at her neck...and that would fit with a 1930s date for the photo...so yes, I believe it could be.

Thank-you all for your advice
It seems likely that the woman is my great grandmother.
I have no other photos of her, so difficult to confirm with certainty, but so many likenesses to both Winifred (in particular) and Evelyn.
Can I ask for your thoughts on her clothing please - do you see 1920/30s clothes?

I'd say mid-late 20s but I could be wrong.
