Is the surname Reuhan (topic title) or Reuben (topic text)?

There was at least one Rouhan family settled in Whitechapel at the time (headed by James Rouhan and Sarah nee Shrimpton) but the child they had in Sep qtr 1910 was Alfred Harold Rouhan.

There was also a (possibly related) Rouhan family (family of Andrew Rouhan and Alice nee Greenaway) with a daughter Catherine, but she was born Catherine Ellen Rouhan, Sep qtr 1899 Whitechapel.

Re Catherine Reuhan birth. Sorry for the delay and thank you for looking for the information.
I had a hint in Ancestry giving 28 Sept 1910 Whitechapel. But can’t find birth.
She died 4 Dec 1988 Dagenham Essex.
Married 31 May 1931 Whitechapel to John Edward Rose.


I think she had brothers James, Michael and Patrick although one or more may have been born in Ireland.

I need to find their mum and dad to get any further back.

The spelling of her name on the 1931 marriage registraion is Rouhan, not Reuhan.  The certificate should give you her paternal details.

Might she have been born in (e.g.) Ireland, if you have found nothing for her in England?
