That's what I thought . So it will most probably be somewhere in that parish not Montrose. I'm going through the valuation rolls for Huntly at the moment but it's a long list  :-X

It might not be that but iti s the nearest I can find  and is in Huntly parish  :-\

Is this an illegitimate birth ( 'his wife' scored out)? If so, David Ross may not necessarily be from/ living in Huntly.

The mother is noted as Jane Gordon.

Ammended, the comment "his wife" has been scored out. So they were perhaps living in sin, since the child has the father's surname.
