Not sure why the marriage certificate and the death certificate lists parents with two different names.

Hello

Because it is almost certainly wrong.

May I suggest (and this depends on what you can afford and how accurate you want your lineage or tree to be), but you should always start with the official Certificate Copy of your earliest known predecessor / ancestor and work backward, checking at each stage that everything matches.

Having a correct marriage is a must, to try and attempt to find a couple in the Census.

Hopefully, as you go backward everything should fit.

Mark

Yes, I looked at the last will.  But I didn't get see anything that would help me other than he
sometimes spelt his name with a T in it too, Holtzhausen.  I've tried searching for that also and couldn't come up with anything.  But then again, I may be looking at something that I don't know is helpful.  :)

My William Holzhausen died in 1897.

If that is his Will, or you find a possible Will, you should definitely look for Wills and see them too.

Matching Wills can be a valuable source, to the family historian, depending on the detail.

There are several pages saying little, and names of children just to confirm the census after he has died?

If parents names are wrong,(on death) perhaps his wife did not know.

Also, several of the German records I was looking at gave about 3'first' names and surname, so perhaps they interchanged them at will.

Could you do a snip and post of the image of the parents names from the marriage and death certificates?
