Think the best thing you could do would be as suggested invest in a few credits for Scotlands People and get a copy of some of the birth certificates to see if it gives a marriage date for the parents not seeing one so far  ???..You could also search for deaths giving the mothers maiden name.. a few trees on Ancestry but you would be better to check yourself to make sure you have the correct information

It's strange, that FamilySearch has Alexander Scott, husband of Joan Robb Ogston

Birth: 25 April 1872, Aerdeen Aberdeenshire Scotland
Death: 5 December 1906, Lowestoft, Suffolk, England

https://www.familysearch.org/tree/person/details/LL7K-W6T

yet he's on the 1911 census. Must be the wrong information from someone with a tree.

Malky

That was a marriage which they quoted - not the death of Alexander.

SCOTT    Alexander        Mutford    4a   2354 - Dec 1906
OGSTON    Joanna        Mutford    4a   2354    - Dec 1906

Yep, I have the birth certificate for my grandfather, Lewis Beddie Scott. Father Alexander Scott, Mother Joan Scott (nee Ogston), married 5th December 1906 in Lowestoft. Death? Marriage? Difference?  ;D
