The link given by Pauline J and the Soldiers' Effects register confirm his battalion was 2nd Battalion.  Which company and platoon he was with in the battalion is not something that gets recorded even in his service record which does not appear to have survived.  On 14 Sep 1914 the war diary records 306 killed wounded and missing among the rank and file, all companies were engaged at Troyon.

As the two battalions of the KRRC were among the first to war in August 1914 it may be that the Rifles Museum have photos of them before going off to France.

I am Zoe Northeast, granddaughter of Maximilian Double.

It is with great difficulty I share with you that in the early hours of 07 August 2021, Maximilian passed away unexpectedly but peacefully.

With deep sadness,
Zoe
