They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.

We will remember them

Very brave men

The monument and memorial are good in my opinion. Sadly the website for the "attraction" is pretty poor in my opinion and the money grabbing nature of the project does not exactly engender respect.

Anyway the official website for anyone interested is

http://internationalbcc.co.uk/
James Stott c1775-1850. James was born in Yorkshire but where? He was a stonemason and married Elizabeth Archer (nee Nicholson) in 1794 at Ripon. They lived thereafter in Masham. If anyone has any suggestions or leads as to his birthplace I would be interested to know. I have searched for it for years without success. Thank you.

At long last Bomber Command has being recognised for their important role in securing the safety of our Country and ending WW2.

May their sacrifice always be remembered.

I've been following an interesting story here in Australia about 14 veterans of Bomber Command who attended yesterday's opening. Initially the Aust Govt refused to contribute to their attendance due to their age (all over 90), but after much pressure from the public and media, they were given the necessary support. Listened to a lovely interview this morning from one of the attendees who was most eloquent in the need to remember our history - and not let it happen again.

Looks like a well designed memorial.
