Child is entered on census as Joseph - unless John is elsewhere.

There is a lovely memoriam in the Shields Daily News dated Friday October 28, 1938:

RICHARDSON.- Treasured memories of my dear husband.  Walter, who died October 28th, 1937. - Though his smiles have gone forever.  And his hands we cannot touch, We shall never lose sweet memories, of the one we loved so much.  The flowers we lay upon his grave may wither and decay.  But the love for him who lies beneath, Will never fade away, for us he always did his best, May God Grant him eternal rest.- Sadly missed.- Always remembered by his loving wife and family.'

Yes, I think this memoriam is lovely too - one of the most beautifully worded I have come across.

I think this is likely to be Margaret's memoriam in the Shields Daily News dated Wednesday, September 3, 1947:

'RICHARDSON.- Treasured memories of our mother and father, who died Sept. 3, 1946 and Oct. 28, 1937.  Not just today, but every day, we will remember them. - Always remembered by their family.'

Walter's burial entry at Preston Cemetery:

Entry No: 1812
Walter Richardson
Male
68 years
Profession: Caulker
Place where death occurred: 45 Gardner Street
Burial: 1 November 1937
Ceremony performed by J McDonald Queen
Unconsecrated  Ground 12743
Parish: North Shields

Margaret's burial:
Entry: 371
Margaret Elizabeth Richardson
Female
72 years
Housewife
Date of death: 3rd September 1946
Place where death occurred: 16, William Street West, North Shields
Burial: 6th September 1946
Unconsecrated Ground: Section C  12743
Parish: North Shields

As they both share the same grave I think this is likely to be a purchased grave and therefore they may have a gravestone.

Just to point out that the school records posted are not the right ones - John Richardson b.27/12/1898 was the son of a Walter Edward and Mary Elizabeth Richardson and actually a John William Richardson - his brother Walter born 2 years later.

Looks like Annie's husband John Richardson was born 29/7/1896 (son of Walter and Margaret) and died in Mar.qtr.1978 North Tyneside.

Thanks Annette - I have now found John also at Preston.  He died on 24th March 1978.

As this is a relatively recent death I think I may not be allowed to post all details but I will send Thefamilyresearcher a pm now.
