Dorset Family History Society’s Monthly Meeting
« on: Saturday 14 April 18 15:19 BST (UK) »
Dorset Family History Society will be meeting on Monday 11th June 2018 at St John’s Church Centre Hall, Ashley Road (opposite Waitrose), Upper Parkstone, Poole, BH14 0AA. Doors open at 19.30 for 20.00 start. Everyone welcome. Entry is £2 to include refreshments.

JANE FOX will be giving a talk on ‘TRACING YOUR LONDON ANCESTORS’.

For many reasons people have been drawn to the capital. The 19th century particularly saw the population of London increase rapidly. It is therefore almost inevitable that at some point most researchers will find themselves exploring the vast collection of records connected with this great city. This illustrated talk discusses why and who migrated, what research difficulties may be faced and how to go about researching and finding those London ancestors.

Jane is a mixture of artist, craftsperson and genealogist!  After a degree in Fine Art, she studied at Winchester for an MA in Fibre Arts, experimenting with different materials and techniques. Having researched her own family history, she then decided to do an MSc in Genealogy and says her speciality is problem solving, the lives of Women and London!! As well as teaching family history courses she knits, crochets, draws and works with paper.
