Monckton Row, West Yorkshire
« on: Sunday 15 April 18 16:03 BST (UK) »
Can anyone help please, My 3x Grandfather William Webb, moved from Tipton Staffs, to work at the Monckton Main Colliery, He and his family lived in Monckton Row, has anyone any photographs of the houses they would have lived in Please. I do know that the colliery is no longer in existence and  there is a booklet of the site unfortunately no homes  are shown.

Regards
Martyn C Webb

Googling comes up with this site, and the photograph purports to show Monckton Row houses in the background.

Hi BumbleB

Thankyou very much, I like the side by side site, its magic. As for the Barnsley site, shame there is only one but better that than nothing. At least i can show my sons and sister where they lived.

Barnsley  we used to get off the train and go to the bus station to go to my Dad's sister's house on Pontefract Rd Cudworth for a weeks holiday. We live in Devon so it was quite an adventure in the 50's & 60's.

Regards
Martyn

Glad to have been able to offer a little bit of information, if not a lot  :-\  :)

There's a Royston Local History Group who have produced 3 books about Royaton. It might be worth contacting them to see f they have a photo of Moncton Row in their archive.

You could also try the local paper, Barnsley Chronicle.
