Photo of my Dad circa 1957
« on: Sunday 15 April 18 21:19 BST (UK) »
This photo is of my Dad, he passed on in 2010. I've been trying to get the damage cleaned up but I'm not the best at photo restoration. Is there anyone who can have a go for me? It's the only copy I have of it and would love to have an undamaged version. It's the only version I have, I know it would be better if it was an "edge to edge" scan, but this was sent to me by my brother who scanned it himself.

And if anyone is able to colourise, his eyes were blue/grey, his hair was dark brown almost black and his skin was permanently tanned from working outside as per the second picture. The uniform I believe is Royal Engineers 1950's as I'm told this was taken during his National Service. I'm not sure how/if the uniforms have changed much over the years

Wow! Thank you, I've never seen this picture of Dad without the damage, this is awesome.

Do you think you can work out what that shield shaped patch is on his arm? I can't work it out, even on the actual photo I couldn't make sense of it

Thank you for giving the badge a go japeflakes. I thought it may have been a bit of a long shot but always worth asking.
