Thomas Spratt County Cork
« on: Monday 16 April 18 18:11 BST (UK) »
Looking for more information on my GGfather Thomas Spratt. He married Mary Quinlan of Limerick. His naturalization records just state Ireland, but family has told he said he was from Cork. Has two sisters, Catherine and Bridget. Thomas was born 1834, Catherine abt 1842, Bridget abt 1844. They all immigrated to the United States in 1862 on the Ship City of Washington.

The only Thomas Spratt I can find that may be a link is from Buttevant and his father Thomas from Gibbings Grove. Any assistance would be appreciated.
Spratt, Quillinan/Quinlan/Cullinane, Toomey, McGlynn, Young

Hi,
With the mention of Buttevant, searching the Tithe Applotments, there is a Thomas Spratt near to there, in a Parish called Kilbolane  in the townland of Laragh.
Right hand page 11th down

This doesn't have a year so it's one of the earliest records.

Checking Griffiths Valuation he still there in 1851.

Checking the Irish Genealogy site
This maybe his death, it doesn't sate who Ellen is.

Ellen's death

The above record says Eugene was present at death.

This is his marriage

Also, this is the Census in 1901

In the 1911 Census there is a Dora, looks like 2 tree owners are from Dora, these are Private trees, they maybe yours.

You just have to dig.

Thanks Maggsie & hallmark! doesn't appear this is the same Thomas Spratt i am looking for. He and his wife Mary Quinlan(Quillinan, Cullinan) had a son in 1860 and immigrated to USA in 1862.

Hi, The top 2 links I sent were before they went to the USA.
All the other info was for people who stayed in Ireland.

Maggie, thanks for this information but I think the Buttvant Spratt is not a connection. Thomas came to USA with 2 sisters Catherine and Bridget. Don’t have any other information other than his marriage record in Baggotstown. I’ll keep digging.
