Birth therefore should be either 1868 or 1869 if death aged is to be believed.

Trying to locate Birth Cert with 'Birth date / Christening Date' and 'Parents details'.

I imagine with parents names a search of Family Search would highlight the right register but just searching Eliza Down, brings up little I can confirm.

I believe it maybe on Ancestry as a search shows:

but no birth year noted. Possible 'image' seems to indicate a record or 'page image' of the actual Parish Register but I cannot progress further atm to view.

'Down' as Maiden Name is older family recollection and is pretty sure. Eliza married Charles Garner and they were the parents of Lilian Smith (b Garner) who is my great nan.

She (Eliza) was a widow at death and death is confirmed as Poplar 1921 and family memory seems to think she was in her early 50's which mirrors the GRO reference located 'age at death'

An Eliza Down aged 22 married 'Charly' Garner in 1887 - her father shown as John Down. Address looks like Elsemure St --although I'm sure it's not, but difficult to decipher.

If age at marriage is correct she was born earlier than thought.

Thanks Giggsy. The marriage details is the one thing I had (from Charles Garner searches) and could translate over to Eliza. The Death details have come from family questions recently, but ideally its the Birth of Eliza I would like some clarification Appreciate the find though.

Father John Down helps - as does the possibility that Eliza was 22yrs in 1887. (b 1865)

I'm hoping a Birth Register for Eliza would give John & ? as parents and an accurate DOB

As the others have said - parents appear to be John & Mary E Down.

They are on the 1871 census with an Eliza L Dunn born c1866.

Eliza subsequently said she was born Bromley, Middx. I think this is Bromley St Leonards, which is where the family are in 1871.
