She is just listed as ELIZA on the 1901.

Thanks :)

Madness that https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:X94J-1WG quotes 'E' as middle. Its thrown me out for a while of frustration.

I will put parents in and confirm backwards that Eliza was indeed Eliza L  :)

Think it's the one in Poplar in Giroud ? St --- could be an' E' but equally it could be a fancy 'L'. It has been transcribed as E.

Thank you

The Garner family were pretty much based in Poplar :)

The 'odds' and replies are favouring 'L' as middle name AND on the basis that it releases the 'block' I was having and fits in with parents you've all located, I believe I will go onwards with 'L' as middle.  :)

The more I look at the 1901 - I think it is an 'L' with a loop on the top -- there is no cross bar in the centre to make it an 'E'. The is another similar L, although not asmuch on a slope therefore not as 'fancy'!

The E was also written as a fancy looking back to front 3 back then so the possibility of transcription error is easily done
