Winwick with Hulme, Thomas WARBURTON
« on: Tuesday 17 April 18 09:49 BST (UK) »
I've found an unexpected brick wall with the children of Thomas Warburton, a farmer, b 1807 in Lymm and his wife Ann.  There are a couple of marriages that fit the time span (Owen and Rowbotham), but trying to confirm this (or not) with the GRO MMN for the children has not shed any more light on it

The children born after 1837 are Martha b 1839, Sarah b 1841, Eliza b 1844.  They are all census details, so the actual birth years may be a year or two different, and they all supposed to have been born in Winwick or in Hulme.  There are baptism details with birth dates for them, father Thomas Warburton, but only "Ann" as the mother, no surname for her

Which register office area should Winwick or Hulme be in?  I've tried Warrington and Chorlton but drawn a blank.  Warbuton is a VERY common name in the Lancashire/Cheshire area, so searching on a county basis with common names results in a very long list  :(

I've looked in the newspaper archives on FindMyPast but can't see a marriage announcement

Any help much appreciated  :-*

When was the eldest child born?

Edit: Obviously the easiest way is to purchase a birth certificate, but taking a guess the Lymm marriage looks the most likely without more information.

John is first in 1834. The baptisms give the date of birth as well as the date of the ceremony.  They seem to have been scrupulous in baptising them, but I'm not convinced they were registered, or that there is another Ann and they did not marry  :-\

The marriage licence for Thomas Warburton & Ann Owen states he is a Farmer of the parish of Lymm.

Where did the other marriage take place

The bond on family search says Ann Owen was age 21 (of course she could have been lying!) Intended marriage 31 March 1834 (actual 3 April)

The marriage to Anne Rowbotham was in Cheadle on 29th July 1833

All the children I can find on the GRO of Warburton/Rowbotham seem to have been registered in Stockport district
