Thanks for the positive feedback Mike and Peter....sometimes you have to go with what you are given and do your best....even when it is over 140 years old, a small file and not in great shape.

Many thanks Carol, Peter and Mike for your interesting improvements on the photo. They all have their own unique spin, but I particularly liked Carole's version.  In addition, the child is definitely a girl and is in fact my great Aunt Lizette with her mother.

Thank you Terry for your superb updates -  both the photographs are great.  Look very natural. I must show these to my mother who is 97 in a few weeks time and see if she recognises the older lady who is in fact her Grandmother.  Many thanks again.
