William Bailiss

Need any information on William Bailiss.  He was born circa 1795 in Nailstone/Barlestone, married a girl named Ann (from Snarestone) and he died in 1863.  Any information on their marriage would be appreciated, also the names of his mother and father.

Hi, I expect you may have the following info but here goes.
On the 1861 census there is mention of a Bayless family which seems to fit the facts. I know its not spelt the same but as I have found with my family tree spellings can  vary a lot.
WILLIAM BAYLESS born 1795 in Nailstone,Leics.   Ag. Labourer
ANN  wife b1793  born in Snareston,Leics.
JOSEPH son born1834 in Nailstone,Leics.             Ag.  Labourer
Sinnock/Sinnicks...Brighton,Greenwich.

Hi,I suspect you may know the following but here goes.In the1861 Census there is a BAYLESS family which fits the facts.Iknow it is adifferent spelling but as I have found with my family tree spellings can vary a lot.

WILLIAM BAYLESS  b1795 at NAILSTONE.LEICS.  Head.      Ag. Labourer

ANN BAYLESS         b1793 at SNARESTONE,LEICS. Wife

JOSEPH BAYLESS    b1834 at NAILSTONE,LEICS.    Son      Ag. Labourer

Still residing in Nailstone but can't find street.
Records of marriages before 1837 are harder to find but some parish details can be found at the Leicestershire Record Office.

Many thanks to all for the information supplied.  It has been helpful. I am finding that surnames are spelt in several different ways and Bailiss has quite a few variations - Bailiss, Bailess, Bayliss, Bayless, Bailyss and Bailes! I shall now pay a visit to the records office shortly.

Regards

Wendy
