David Henderson & Margaret Spence
« on: Wednesday 18 April 18 13:23 BST (UK) »
Hi,

I’m looking for any info on my Great Grandparents David Munro Henderson born about 1885 and died on the 19th March 1964, I believe he served in the WW1 but only have an old photo of him in France in 1916. He was married to Margaret Gibson Wright Spence who I know also very little about. They had 13 children only 7 survived into adulthood.

Thank you Paul

David Henderson and Margaret Spence (no middle names) were married in South Leith in 1905. If you go to www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk, invest in a few credits and use some of them to download the marriage certificate, it will tell you the full names of their parents, including their mothers' maiden surnames. It will also tell you their ages, which will help you to find them in the 1911 census, which will tell you where they were born and the names, ages and birthplaces of any children born before 1911.

David Munro Henderson died in Glasgow in 1955, aged 83. Another David Munro Henderson died in Kirkcaldy in 1974 aged 55. There are three births of David Munro Hendersons, in Glasgow in 1891, in Dundee in 1922 and in Inverness in 1943.

Margaret Gibson Henderson, other surname Spence, died in Leith in 1950, aged 64. This looks like the one born in Leith in 1887.

You can look up any of these events except the 1974 death and the 1922 and 1943 births, all of which are after the cut-off dates for online viewing.
Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.

Sorry, Gadget - my post crossed with yours. Having more than once lost screeds of typing by reacting to the warning about new posts while I have been typing, I always post what I have typed first and then look to see what else has been posted.
