I only have "Jan 1855 County Antrim, Ireland" ... same source.

Been a long day trawling the New York newspapers archive for this family and its extension(s).  Got to go and have some relaxing (fermented) grape juice now  :o

Aye mair questions than answers in a world where the past was a different place - that cannae be revisited!

Family surnames being researched ...
Crawford, Neilson, Lindsay, Reekie, Davidson
Drummond, Laing, Pearson, Tulloch ... will do for starters but there's a whole lot more!

As I said, I have become quite fond of your Lavery/Law family. Such sad endings.
For the benefit of those who may not have seen previous posts on this family

Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.

He seems to be the only Lavery at whatever address this is. Has anyone looked at the original on SP? Though it would be cheaper and more informative to look at the death certificate - has anyone seen this?

Just can't find a death for him so far, even with the broadest of broad searches.  Checked Ireland just in case - am I missing something   :-\

Only other death for a John Lavery is in 1907.  A shipyard labourer, aged 50, married to a Mary Early. Died Poorhouse, Dumbarton. Parents - Thomas Lavery and Ellen MS Connelly, both deceased.

Can't locate them so far on 1901.

Could it be this one in 1871, with wrong father's name:
