Tonbridge and Maidstone burials
« on: Thursday 19 April 18 01:32 BST (UK) »
Hi all ..  I am trying to find the family of a William and Alicia Crisp.
I am confident I have recorded the 6  children correctly, but for some reason, except for a son, I cannot seem to find them on any Census after 1851 ! .
William and Alicia Crispe are recorded as dying in Maidstone (1855) and Tonbridge (1874) respectively..  and apart from their death certificates, I was hoping that the local papers my have printed an obit that lists the children.
Ken in Oz.

Maidstone Cemetery didn't open until 1858 so you would be looking at a parish burial.

There is a burial for a William CRISPE at Linton 17th February 1855.

There are no MIs for Linton or Tonbridge on the Kent Archaeological Society website.

You can search the Findmypast newspaper index for free and I can't see any mention for William who was a notable farmer in the area.

The gravestones at Linton are in a poor state  :-[

The George James Crispe mentioned in the newspaper article was 36 when he died in 1859 in England (born c1823).  He married Mary Elizabeth Wyatt in Marylebone in 1849, his father named as William Crispe occ Farmer.

They don't appear to have had any children in England.
