If you log onto www.leitrim-roscommon.com (I think) they have a 1901 census listing for all residents in this village.

If you are not sure of the correct spelling (depending on the person who took the census, it can vary from Rush to Rushe) just type in the following in the lookup box

Townland - Magheraboy
Parish - Kilmovee
Barony - Costello
County - Mayo

and this will churn out all the residents living in Magheraboy in 1901.

Also, check out new website eastmayo.org - they have all the marriage and baptism records for Kilmovee since records began (up to the 1910's). The very old records do not list a townland so can be hit and miss but from around 1860 or so, depending on the priest, the townlands are listed.

Hope this is of help. If you have any further details of the Rushe family you are researching, let me know - originally from area.
Boylan - Co Cavan, Ireland
Breen - Co Wexford, Ireland
Duffy - Co Mayo, Ireland
Kearns - Co Mayo, Ireland

Hello
Sorry to jump onto your post
I’m trying to find some members of the Rush Family that where last recorded as being in Sinolaun Kilmovee . I’m trying to find my Great Aunts Winnie Born around 1881 , Mary born around 1864 -68 and my Great Uncle John born 1870 . Their parents were John Rush & Catherine Bones . They had a total of 9 children one being my Great Grandma Catherine Rush. Catherine , Michael , Ellen Bridget & Ann settled in West Yorkshire England , Margaret married and went to the USA with her family but then came back to Ireland with her husband Ed Cummins. Winnie , Mary and John , I’ve no idea. I do have a census from 1901 and Winnie & Mary are registered at living at 5 Sinolaun Kilmovee with Catherine & John their parents but after that I’ve nothing .
Any help would be really appreciated, thank you

This thread is from 2005 but the OP (eberg) hasn't been online since September 2017. Hopefully they will still be receiving notifications for replies to their topic.

I think some transcription errors have jumped into your post above.

This, I think, is the correct 1901 census entry for Mary and Winnie with their parents.

Edward Commins and Maggie Rush married 1905

1911

If they went to US after this (and later returned) perhaps their missing siblings went also.

Thanks for this .
I’m thinking the same that perhaps they went to America. I did find a Winnie Rush that could have been mine but I didn’t want to add it to my tree in case it wasn’t her. I’ve also found a Mary Rush that was 5 months old when she died in Magherboy in 1929. It’s recorded that her Aunt Kate Dunleavy from Sinolaun was present at her death. I do know that the Rush & Dunleavy family lived next door to each other in Sinolaun and some of the Dunleavy’s stood as God parents for the Rush children , so I’m wondering if this Mary Rush could be my Great Uncle johns child . Unfortunately I’m drawing a blank on her parents .
