Abode of a death record
« on: Thursday 19 April 18 02:49 BST (UK) »
Hi all

I have a possible death record for one of my family members, Ellen Fisher, aged 14. I can't find her after 1881 so this is possibly her. However, I am not sure what is listed under Abode. To me it looks like she was in a Home but I'm not sure what sort of home it was.

if anyone could help decipher it, that would be great.

Thank you
Fisher - Australia, England
Redhead - Australia, England
Banks - Australia, England
Offord - Australia, England
O'Dwyer - Ireland
Thompson - Australia
Mitchell - Australia, Ireland
Dinte - Australia, England, Poland

I'm wondering if it is P.M.V Homes, Addlestone which would be Princess Mary's Village Homes.

Just in case I'm right, here is a random 1873 article on the homes in general.

Thank you bbart. Now I wonder why she was there, in the first place. She is listed with her parents on the 1881 census in Middlesex and then she disappears, and I found this possible answer, but on the 1891 census, her younger sister is also missing. I know her younger sister, Matilda marries but not until after the 1891 census. But Ellen I can't find after 1881.

I don't know if the Surrey History Center would still have records, but there is an index credited to them at Findmypast, indicating that Ellen was born 20 Nov 1869, and admitted to the Princess Mary Village Homes in Addlestone at age 5.

then definitely not my Ellen as she was born 13 August 1870. I will have to keep searching for her :)

I agree, and I just rechecked the index, which stated she was there until March 1884 when she died, so not the Ellen with parents on the 1881 census.

Good luck in your hunt!

Thank you. I will start a new topic on the England board and see if the wonderful Rootschatters can help me out.
