Hi
Ive been tracing a Photo taken in Appleby 1918 of a marriage. Found the couple but on the Cert He is given as "Sapper Hill Force" so what was the Hill Force six months previously aanother soldier was married also from "Hill Force"

Until someone comes up with the answer, perhaps you could give their names/numbers if poss to chase them another way?

Photo taken Appleby but no names only date There was a hospital at Appleby
Have tried looking formulas but only WWII

Two candidates from medal records, one was a Waterways and Railways man (in his case railways)the other had been discharged to the category that covered men who were of more value to the country than the armed forces (such as miners).  No personal info for either though!

Perhaps ask the RE Museum http://www.re-museum.co.uk/ whether they recognise the term which doesn't ring a bell at the National Archives or Imperial War Museum etc etc

There's no possibility I suppose that the "Hill" is a badly written abbreviation for Territorial??

It's a deffinate Him the four letter is ? It is either e,i,or l then Forced ????

He as a honour guard of invalid from the hospital at Appleby but he has standard issue uniform including putters but no badges or unsigned In the marriage very is occupation is ''Sapper Hill Force''
