Ann Pellew Gulval b 1792
« on: Thursday 19 April 18 18:48 BST (UK) »
Hi. I am looking for Ann Pellew born 1792 to Thomas Pellew in Gulval. There seem to be a couple of Pellew families in Gulval and Madron and I canít place if she is with them. She married Francesco Parodi (b Italy) in 1814 in Gulval. John Pellew and john Pellew Jnr are witnesses. They had Constance Parodi in 1815 . Constance Prody is in census 41 and died 1846 Penzance.
But I cannot trace Ann at all.no idea if she died or went away.

Francesco then went on to have a family in 1819 London with Susannah - but they didnt marry till 1836 - itís a bit of a mystery. Would love any ideas if possible. Thank you

Cornwall OPC has Anne Pellew baptised 23 October 1792 in Gulval daughter of Thomas. No other details given.

Unfortunately the only Thomas Pellew marriage they have doesn't take place until 1796, four years after Anne's baptism, so possibly not her parents. The couple concernec are Thomas Pellew and Elizabeth Murish

Thanks Emelton,
Yes I was looking at thomas and Elizabeth Murrish. But you are right itís 4 years later. And it makes Ann quite a lot younger than their children. So must be another Thomas Pellew - but the two johns maybe family.
But I canít find an Ann Parodi death or another marriage... unless she emmigrated leaving her daughter

Wow Osprey
That is incredible!
Thank you so much! You have amazing detective skills! Well I never! I didnít find Ann! And there she is!
But divorce didnít exist then ....so.. that means they are both bigamists?
But isnít that strange they married in 1864 with children born 1821.

Can I just ask about how you found the census. Do you look by place? I donít know how to do that! I mean census for the whole of Gulval?
Thank you so much again!
:)

Strange that her father's name is down as John on the marriage entry.

I looked on FreeBmd for Ann Prodi, found the 1864 marriage and then checked it on the opc database. When did Francesco die? If one or other had been absent for 7 years & the spouse is not known to be alive, remarriage was allowed.

I wonder if the name on the 1792 baptism was an error by the person recording it? John jnr seems to be baptised in 1795 and there's a marriage for John Pellew & Ann Pengilly 19 Nov 1791 in Gulval.

death regs
Abraham Tredrea 76 june qtr 1869 Penzance vol 5c pg 232
Ann Tredrea 79 march qtr 1869 Penzance vol 5c pg 239

Possible burial for daughter Catherine Tredrea age 18 20 April 1842 in Gulval residence Penzance.
Daughter Diana married John Thomas in 1842 and there were 8 baptisms to them

Elizabeth Tredrea married William Thomas 20 Sept 1870 in St Marks, Wolverhampton. Spotted that one by chance!

Thank you so much again Osprey - fantastic information you have given me. I didnít know about 7 years ! Francescos job was travelling between London and Portugal so he must have travelled from Penzance. Wonder if Ann knew when he was in town - I imagine so as so much smaller then and people would have spotted him. He died in 1845 but only married the new wife in 1836 much earlier than Ann remarrying. Thereís something going about marriage/ separation!
And amazing seeing daughter moved to Wolverhampton too! Amazing work- so much to ponder on now! So many thank yous!!! Yes john must be the father! :)

he may have sailed from Falmouth, it was where ships waited for orders and the packet boats left there.
