White Plains NY Eastern State Journal 1880-1883

Dennis Rabbitt has bought of Joseph Lye the building on Railroad avenue formerly occupied
by Mr. Germain as a candy store. He will remove the building next to his dwelling house
on Rabbitt street. It will be rented as a tenement house.

Sandra and Gadget,
I thank you both for much searching that you both have done.
It is really difficult to find anything certain.

Bridget Rabbitt is buried here in town with my wife great-grandparents, Patrick Rock and his wife Bridget (formerly McSorley). When Bridget died her obituary stated that she was the 'aunt of Bernard and James McSorley'. I would presume that she was McSorley before marriage also as she is buried direct opposite the McSorley family grave. Thats what I believe may be right.

Heres a listing that includes both Bridget Rabbitt and Mary McSorley below her......

When Bridget returned to Ireland she was the occupant of a property owned by Patrick McSorley, her nephew.

The obituary mentioned no children, as I have stated before.
Nobody living today is able to throw any light on her as many years have passed.
I am hopeful that one day, I will get closer to the truth.

In the meantime, I am grateful.

Tony

What was Patrick McSorley's mother's maiden name?
Perhaps she was an aunt from his mother's side.

Sinann, that is the million dollar 'unanswered' question that goes beyond any records I can find.
My only clue, though not certain is McGurk but its not 100% certain.
Bernard, James, Bridget, Jane and Ann McSorley were born between 1847 and 1858 in Tyrone with father Patrick. I cannot find a mothers name in nay records.
