Kate,John and Minnie Kirton Gateshead.
« on: Friday 20 April 18 12:36 BST (UK) »
Hi folk's touched on in another posting these were my Garandmother (Sophia Ellen Kirton) .all three were
Last together in Tyne street Gateshead 1901 cencus but prior to the 1911 one something drastic must
have happened as the family were split up,My Grandmother was married to my Grandfather Robert Smith living in with her Grandmother in Rawling road Gateshead,Kate was in an orphanage in Tudhoe,Minnie was
a visitor in Felling with I believe her re-married mother(despite the fact her father was still alive an inmate
in Bensham workhouse)and John cannot be found,I've looked at the military record for John Kirton RAMC
on Ancestry and it mention's his sister Kate so I'msure it's him but after that I loose track of both.
There were so few Minnie Kirton's around I can sort of track
BDM's for nearly all of them but my Minnie I can't track after the 1911 Cencus just wonder if anyone
with a nose for searching can shed any light?
           TIA Steve Smith.

Hi
There's a Minnie Kirton who marries a Herbert G Marshall in South Shields in Sep 1919.
Her death record gives a birth of 2nd July 1892 in  Mar 1973 at Sunderland.
Does that fit?

Me too

Hi Folk's thank's for replying,I  Kind of thought the Minnie Kirton that married Herbert Marshall was
born in South Shield's 1892,and living in Whitburn nr South Shield's 1901 and 1911,the only two other's
in the area at the time were my Minnie Gateshead 1901 and Heworth 1911 and Minnie Kirton with
the Renforth family in Gateshead 1901 this girl was baptised Whilelmina I think Frances Renforth may
have been her Mother and remarried so still a mystery what happened to my Minnie Kirton.

Hi folk's I've been mulling over these family member's again particularly Minnie,I'm sure the
Minnie Marshall (nee Kirton) mentioned is the one born in 1892 Spt qtr as the 1973 death in
Sunderland matches for the birth date in her entry of death.age wise there are three contender's
left.Minnie Kirton m.Herbert Fillingham in Doncaster but I'd imagine she's the birth entry 1893 in
Doncaster.Minnie Kirton m.James A Heath in Dudley 1916 but there was a birth entry in Stourbridge 1895 which is possibly her.The last I can see is 1927 to Herbert Toft in Pontefract no birth seem's
to fit by location.
It could be a simple case of her never marrying but Dad knew her in his childhood and said she
was married and lived in Split Crow road in Gateshead however since my first post I've found
John's army record's on Ancestry on one of their free weekend's and an address given for his
sister Kate was Split Crow road so possibly he mixed up the sister's have I missed anything?
Any help would be appreciated.

Hi folk's never did ever find any trace of Minnie but not seeming to be recorded on free Bmd was a
wedding in Devon 1917 between a Minnie Kirton and Earnest Williams so thrown a question out on the Devon
county board to see if anything turns up miles away but given there was a war on and she would have been 24 maybe work drew her there, long shot but we'll see what turns up.

Just to add to posts 1and 2, Minnie married on 2 August 1919 at St Mary, Whitburn, according to the South Tyneside website.  The CR code shows the venue when you look on the marriage index on same site.  Steve, if you can visit, - Tyne and Wear Archives and 'The Word' (South Shields local studies) will have the full entry on microfilm.
