Thank you. I found in Ancestry Military section a James Sutherland who was living there in 1915. It states he was in the Gordon Highlanders and had been a member of the regiment for 5 years.  But many thanks for your help.

Valuation Rolls for 1915 can be searched by address on www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk

I can't see an entry for 12 King Street but there is a James Sutherland showing at 15 King Street. The original image might give you further details that could help further.

Thank you I  have done that now but I don't think he is James Sutherland I am looking for as this James Sutherland was at that address in  1906 and my James was in Abedeen that year. So far I have never been able to find my James Sutherland in the 1911 census.  The only census he is in is the 1901 census in Aberdeen, stating he was born 1887 Glasgow.
I know his mother died in 1906 and before 1911 the father and one of the sons moved to Peterhead, but not sure about James.  He remains a mystery.  But of course he may have been at sea.  I have a photograph of him with his father and brother taken during the first world war.
Thanks for your help.
