Hi can anyone help please

Researching a john ballinger/ bellinger

Born 1825 ross, Goodrich, Herefordshire

Married a Mary Ann cousins 1870 in Victoria Australia

Trying to find when and how he got to Australia  ( abt 1860 so we are led to believe) no evidence however ???

His father Edward 1776 was transported to Australia but died before reaching land 1836 aged 59 ( for sheep stealing)

Was john also transported or emigrated to Tasmania or Australia ???

Any information welcome

Regards Phil

Hi

Do you have a copy of the image of that 1870 marriage?  If so, what age, place of birth, parents names did the groom provide?

There's a convict John Ballinger, single, 18yrs
Convicted Gloucester Quarter Sessions 4 March 1845 for stealing a spade, 7 yrs
Arrived Tasmania 16 Sept 1845 per Marion 2
He is noted as 'Sick' when the bookwork was completed, so very few details completed

A John BALLINGER (b. c1826) and Samuel BALLINGER arrived in SA 1858. Their residence prior to emigration was recorded as Monmouth.

Samuel, who married in SA and had a father named Edward, later went to VIC with at least one daughter named Harriet.
Samuel was living at Casterton in 1874.

There are a few possibilities on NSW archives keyname search for assisted immigration
https://www.records.nsw.gov.au/keyname     (can use wildcard % and search for b%llinger)

John BELLINGER (no age given) on Thetis 1842 arriving at Port Phillip
John BELLINGER  age 24 on Chowringhee 1855 arriving at Sydney and/or Newcastle
John BALLINGER age 6 on Glentanner 1859 at Moreton Bay
Also on Glentanner were other BALLINGER's :
     Arthur 2
     Charles 29
     Emily 6
     James 31
     Mary A 32
     Sarah 25
     Wiiliam 1 (died on voyage)

From the shipping list for the Glentanner 1859

http://www.rootschat.com/links/01lxj/

It has Charles 29, labourer and wife Sarah 25, both from Worcester with their children John 6, and William  1

So can probably rule these out
