Hi Jayson
Joseph Bowker was my great great great great grandfather. I too can't find a babtism in Tattenhall.
I'm going to try his marriage to Jane Cooper in Whitchurch.Hopefully that will come up with something. They lived their final years in Wheelock and died there.
Regards
Angela (nee Bowker)

Hi Angela

Wow! How interesting. I started this research for a friend to if I could establish a family connection with his Bowker ancestors and mine. He is obviously related to you as he is descended from the same Joseph Bowker of Tattenhall. My Bowker ancestors came from Nantwich where my friend's family eventually ended up but I don't think there is a connection.

I have hit a brick wall at the moment. I found the marriage of Joseph Bowker to Jane Cooper but the marriage was before civil registration so no father's name is shown. I hope this isn't a dead end.

Hi Jayson
Sorry we don't seem to have a connection. There were some Bowkers that had a photographic shop in Nantwich by the market could they be the connection your looking for.
What is the connection between your friend and the Bowkers.
Regards Angela

Hi Angela

Thank you for your reply. Yes, there were Bowkers involved in photography in Nantwich. I am sort of guessing that they might be connected to me very distantly but I haven’t really looked to be honest.

I will send you the details in a personal message (so check your Rootschat message inbox) regarding my friends connection to your Joseph Bowker.

Have you looked at any Bowker wills to see if Joseph is mentioned?
Do you know when Samuel died?
I see there are several for Samuel Bowkers here. There's a good possibility it was a family name.

p://archivedatabases.cheshire.gov.uk/RecordOfficeWillEPayments/results.aspx?srch=basic&fn=&sur=bowker&ab=&occ=&sy=&ey=&before=&after=&wills=&adm=&inv=&cod=&sort=Surname&page=4

They will be on findmypast, but I find this original database at Cheshire easier to search first off.
Lots of other Bowkers if you look at the other pages. You just  might get luckily and find one of them mentions Joseph, or even him as a grandson to one of them. His family may not always have been 'ag labs'. I have people who were farmers or even yeomen, and their younger sons were more lowly 'ag labs'.
Just spreading the web wider.
Good luck!  :)

OOps. I see that copy and paste of the webpage has not come up as a hyperlink.
