George Lawrence born Kent 1801-died Dover 1843
« on: Tuesday 24 April 18 11:41 BST (UK) »

I've hit a brick wall researching the Lawrence line of the family. I've got as far as George Lawrence...details as follows:

George Lawrence born 1801 married Ann Richards in London. George was born in Kent, and Ann Richards came from Tenby Wales.

They had 6 children all born in Dover and baptised at St Mary The Virgin Church in Dover. The family lived in Union Street and George's occupation recorded on the 1841 census was Bookkeeper and he left a will which references this too.

After George's early death Ann rented out rooms and all (but one who died) children married into respectable middle class families.

I have a couple of portrait paintings of the children dressed in beautiful clothes and this suggests the family may have done quite well...but this doesn't quite fit with George's occupation.

I'd love to be able to find out more about George, his parents and siblings.

One son in particular had links to China and the US and amassed a small fortune.
