Bourkes/Burkes
« on: Tuesday 24 April 18 13:01 BST (UK) »
Hi all,

I'm looking for Bourke/Burke ancestors from Tipperary.

My 3rd great grandfather Martin Bourke was born in Tipperary around 1844 and came to Australia around 1877. He married Mary Lynch at age 25 in Tipperary (according to his death cert) so around 1869.

His parents are listed as Thomas Bourke and Winifred Hogan.

I'm looking for birth and marriage records (or any other records) for all of the above, don't know which parish though. Any help would be appreciated. :)

Naomi

There is a marriage in 1870 but his father's name is listed a Michael

It would be worth looking for this marriage in the parish records to see if an error was made

Early marriages are not matched up couple wise yet so need to be crossed referenced for a possible match

OK.... so you don't know where.

Just a basic search gets you these on Civil Reg   http://www.rootschat.com/links/01ly2/

You get (for example)

 Marriage of MARTIN BURKE
in 1868
Group Registration ID   N/R
SR District/Reg Area   Nenagh
Returns Year   1868
Returns Quarter   1
Returns Volume No   3
Returns Page No   622

then in another tab do a search for a matching record for  Mary Lynch in Nenagh.

IF
they were RC you can check registers online free too
Give a man a record and you feed him for a day.
Teach a man to research, and you feed him for a lifetime.

OK...the Nenagh one doesn't match

 Marriage of MARY LYNCH
in 1867
Group Registration ID   N/R
SR District/Reg Area   Nenagh
Returns Year   1867
Returns Quarter   1
Returns Volume No   18
Returns Page No   468

So just do a similar search for her, no location and see if you get a match!!
