Manchester Death
« on: Wednesday 25 April 18 11:22 BST (UK) »
I have a Manchester Death in 1945, with Sub-District of 'Manchester West Central'.

Does anyone known what area this covers?

Thanks, Eric.

Can you find it on the Free BMD index?

If you click on the district name you should get a list of places it covers.
Hinchliffe - Huddersfield Wiltshire
Burroughs - Arlingham Glos
Pick - Frocester Glos

As far as I can see it just refers to it as one of the Sub-Districts.

Interesting article. I didn't know they had given that area a new name. Presume someone said 'I've got a good idea'.

Not what I was looking for though. This was a Registration Area in 1945.

Thanks anyway, Eric.

Have you no idea of the home address?
West would indicate towards Salford and Eccles, but not there  or it would not be called  Manchester so perhaps the  Deansgate area.Whether that would b considered central or not -?

Last known in the Cheetham Hill/Hr Broughton area, which made me wonder if it is the Cheetham Hill area. About as far west as Manchester goes. Manchester doesn't really have a west side.

Well Cheetham Hill is North  of centre and next to Pendlebury which is  to the West of Cheetham Hill and strictly speaking  Pendlebury  is  Salford.
Hope this helps.
Just a thought ,Crumpsall is so close, could the death have been at Crumpsall hospital or Delauneys hospital in which case it would be registered as  being at Delauneys road .
This was to respect people`s poverty as the address was the workhouse.
There was also a hospital fo rpeople who were mentally disturbed including senility which we now call Dementia and Altzheimer `s disease.

 Very sad.     Viktoria.

Cheetham Hill is probably a bit too North and Crumpsall Hosp. seems to have its own entries, so maybe the Castlefield area.

Maybe it's not who I think it is. Not to worry.
