Are the old newspapers being digitised much?

Here is a good site - in Swedish though:

Hi Ian,
Thanks for the link to the Swedish newspapers. I shall have a look over the next few weeks and see if I can find anything relevant.
Cheers,
Libby

Hi Libby

I took a look in the books not knowing what you really have and found these records. They are in chronological order. Also, there are a couple of trees online that have the wrong place of birth for Claes Anders Adelsköld so I have also found that too. According to the books he left for Gothenburg from Alingsås in 1884. His father's life was an interesting read. There are no other records of Claes Anders to do with his sea-faring other than the records you have. I saw that he was in Australia in 1875 and 1877. He became a seaman in Gävle and lived in Stockholm between 1859 and 1878. Looking for records in Stockholm are very difficult to locate and I was unable to locate any apart from 2 which can be seen here:

http://digitalastadsarkivet.stockholm.se/Rotemannen2012/Search.aspx

Just write "adelsk" in lastname and "1854" in dateofbirth you should be able to see them.

Hi Emyr,
The map and satelite image side by side are terrific. Thanks for showing me that.

Hi Ian,
Thanks for finding the birth place of Anders. There has been much mixed information as to where he was born, but Karlstad makes more sense than Stockholm. But even the Karlstad church records for 1851 - 1855 has Anders born in Stockholm.

With the information that Anders lived in Stockholm from 1859 to 1878, The church records show he lived at Jakob, Stockholm from 1866 - 1873, then Steninge till the mid 1870's. Then there is a gap between selling Steninge and buying and rebuilding Nolhga, Alingsas in the late 1870's. Later C Adolf buys and rebuilds Villagatan 2 in Stockholm.
I can't see any actual address for when they were living at Jakob in the church record, but I find the records are difficult to read for clues of addresses. And then I am puzzled as to where they lived between Steninge and Nolhaga?

Anyway, I will keep searching.
Thanks for your help,
Libby

I have listed all the "mantal" records for Adelsköld in Stockholm for the years 1863-1875.
"mantal": here is an older explanation of what this means.

Stockholm:

1874 - Blasieholmen, Stockholm:

Claes Anders recorded as studying in Uppsala.

1875 - Blasieholmen, Stockholm:

Claes Anders recorded as being a volunteer in the Upplands Regiment.
