This makes me wonder if this is from the other side of the family I have a record of John Carr also who died in France and he was in 7th battalion royal Scots died aged 40 could this be him

I don't want to muddy the waters but was there a Liverpool connection ?

The carr family I think was of Dundee area , I have 2 cars connected but one was the first husband of my great grandmother she had a son to him
And the father John was killed in ww1 and son William in ww2 very sad

Would have been a half brother to my grandfather

I can’t think who else it could be but was among that side of the family Smith - Mcintosh - smith being second marriage to Mary Simpson she  was married to Carr then James smith

have found a new lead to this man we had a relative james craib who was married to my smith side , he was a lance corporal and he died aged 22, france and flanders
