Inquisitions Post Mortem - C142 versus E150
« on: Wednesday 25 April 18 18:36 BST (UK) »
Does anyone have experience of the relationship between the Inquisitions Post Mortem in series C142 and E150 at TNA where both exist for the same person?

The description of E150 says this:

Most of the records in this series are inquisitions post mortem into whether the deceased had held land direct of the Crown. These duplicate the inquisitions in C 142, but also include unique inquisitions taken on the escheators' own authority.

Does this mean that one would be better served to purchase the record from E150, because it may have more information than the one in C142?

Or are they always the same where copies exist in both series?

Thank you for your help.

Should other factors be considered - such as physical condition - given that many of the pleadings in Chancery in the period of interest are in poor condition?
