The areas of my 2 other Irish lines?

My 5th grt grandmother Catharine going by the 1841/1851 census was born abt 1781 County Kerry, Ireland.
At some point she married James Lygo (My 5th grt grandfather) and was living in south Derbyshire.
The only marriage which has any resemblance is a marriage in Liverpool 1803 between a James Lythgoe and a Catharine Jones 'Widow' so Jones I assume wouldn't be her maiden name, not sure if this 2 are my 2 but Lythgoe is a variant spelling of Lygo/Lygoe and I see no other marriages for a James to a Catharine.

My other 5th grt grandmother is Eliza Robinson on census records she says she is born in Ireland abt 1816.
She married Thomas Simmons in 1826 Leicester.
There is also an Ellen Robinson around the same age in Leicester who also lists that she is born in Ireland so I'm assuming sisters but its hard to link them when I don't now where in Ireland they are from or who their parents are.

Kerry? That figures. About as far, from me, as it's possible to get  :-\

I'm in Leitrim, see? I'm not a native. Just always happy to ask around. But, Callahan (By any spelling) isn't a name I've heard, locally, for example. Though, interestingly, I've had people say, eg. " O' Sullivan? That's a Cork name. ". Not sure how far we could push that idea though.

I wonder if it might be worth ye running any known surnames past the Irish board? May be able to narrow things down a little, geographically?

Looking up James Callaghan's brings up a fair few in Dublin/Cork. and Catherine Kilmartins around Longford/Tipperary/Meath and others.
I have yet to find a marriage between these two.

I put a post also on the Ireland board in hopes someone there may be able to dig something up so we'll see how we go.
Just waiting on the Marriage Cert so I can get going again on this line really.
Top notch help there Steve  :)

Burning the midnight oil so to speak and think I may have made a little breakthrough.
Firstly remember Celia lists father James as a 'Policeman'.
and Children David born abt 1835 and Mary Ann born abt 1833.
Take a look at this two baptisms and take into account fathers occupation.

David Callaghan baptised 1833 Boyle, Co. Roscommon, Ireland. Parents James and Catherine (Catherines Surname is left blank)
Fathers Occupation - REVENUE POLICE

Mary Ann baptised 1832 Boyle, Co. Roscommon, Ireland. Parents James and Catherine.( Catherines surname is left blank again)
Fathers Occupation - REVENUE POLICE

I wonder if this is my James and Catherine. Do to the family emigrating to England the same time as famine, I wonder if this is what Celia meant by policeman and James was only working as a hawker as that's all the work he could get in England?

Although there are 2 marriages in Roscommon for a James Callaghan to a Catherine but none of them list her name as Kilmartin. One is Hogg and the other is Towey.
So not sure this are my siblings to celia but it fits.

The David Callaghan who is living with James and family in 1841 aged 30 could be a sibling to James.
He marries Frances Hutchinson in Loughborough, So I've ordered this cert as well. This should show David's father and in turn a possible father for James.

Good luck with that. The baptisms look very plausible.

There is a Newspaper archive -Roscommon Journal March 1834 regarding the theft of money in Boyle.
James Callaghan was the revenue policeman who recovered the money.

Very interesting, I’ll take a look. Apparently there are some Revenue police records on FindMyPast aswell.
