Hi
I'm hoping someone can help me sort out these two.
My 3rd grt grandmother is Selina Door/Doors/Dore.
Born 1854 Leicester. Her GRO doesn't list her mothers maiden name, Its just left blank.
Through census I have found that her mother is a Caroline Door maiden surname Hubbard?
On Selina's marriage in 1875 to James Kirby she lists her father as 'David Doors'
Now Caroline Hubbard married a David Door in 1842 but David is nowhere to be found after the 1851 census.
The marriage his his father as John Door, and i believe i have davids baptism in 1821.
In 1851 David is a bricklayers labourer.
The children given in 1851 are -
Charlotte Door born abt 1843 Found GRO gives mother as HUBBARD. Marries 1869 as Kate Door, father given as David Door Plasterer.
Frederic Door born abt 1844
Jane Door born abt 1850 Cant be found after 1851
All born leicestershire.
Where did my David go? Why did Caroline not list her maiden name on Selinas GRO?

Thank you very much for that, It seems Selina is illegitimate. She osnt present on the 1851 census so wouldn't have been born and not registered as she was reg in 1854/55.

The address in 29 year old David Doore's death notice in the Leicestershire Mercury, 30 Aug 1851, is "Grosvenor Street".
