Sorry, it is St Pauls, Bentley. (not St George as I said)

St George in Ongar Road (near their address) is known as St George Brentwood.

See
https://www.stgeorgeschurchbrentwood.org/

but as it didnt open till 1934 she could not have been chr there in 1931!

Which Church was the 1954 marriage in?
I have been assuming Brentwood Parish Church i.e. St Thomas.

Yes. Had to check. Looked at so many parishes, I’d lost track!

Traditionally weddings were in the brides parish.   But it is the groom who allegedly was baptised just before the marriage - do we know where he was living at the time?

My Grandad was born at 132 Moat Road, in Wigston, Leicestershire, where his mother hailed from. His father was from modern-day North London. He was schooled in Brentwood, and at the time of his marriage was living at 2A North Road Avenue, Brentwood.

Fairly central then.  Surprised then that the alleged pre-marriage baptism was not also at St Thomass.

It's all very confusing. I'm going to check the filing cabinet in a minute, there's baptism certificates and things in there.
