Help please with the GIBSON brothers of Flitcham.
« on: Thursday 26 April 18 14:44 BST (UK) »
Hello

My great grandmother's two brothers were George Gibson and Frederick William Gibson. They were sons of Martin Gibson and Mahala (Ramm).

George Gibson was born at Flitcham in 1855.
1861 Flitcham census - aged 5, with parents.
1871 Roydon census - aged 15, ag. lab. with father and stepmother.
1881 Grimston census - aged 27, unmarried, labourer, lodging with George Bone and family.

Frederick William Gibson was born at Flitcham in 1860.
(Named William on all three census returns.)
1861 Flitcham census - aged 1, with parents.
1871 Roydon census - aged 10, scholar, with father and stepmother.
1881 Roydon census - aged 21, with father and a second stepmother.

I am trying to find them in later records, but have seen no mention so far.

Thank you for reading this.  :)

Thank you both for replying.

There was a George Herbert Gibson registered in 1856 in the Blofield district. In the 1871 census he looks to have been the George Gibson, aged 14, who was both born and living at Little Plumstead. The Little Plumstead George has not turned in the 1891 census.

The whereabouts of the Flitcham Gibson brothers is a mystery.  :)

Thank you for replying. It is starting to look as if they may have both emigrated.
