St Augustine R/C baptisms
« on: Thursday 26 April 18 21:22 BST (UK) »
Hi. Has anyone got access to baptism records from St Augustine church, Granby Row, Manchester? I am looking for my Green family. There is an index, but no details listed, and, as Green is so popular, I'm unsure as to whether or not they are indeed my family. In particular Thomas Green baptised 1851. His father was John Green, mother Catherine. Thomas had 3 brothers, John, Michael and James. He also had 2 sisters, Mary and Ann, baptisms ranging from 1847 to 1859. In 1851 census they are listed as being at Taylor's court, Chorlton on Medlock. This is like looking for a needle in a haystack! Hope someone can help. Many thanks

After doing further research, it would appear that for the dates in question, only an index survives, giving only name and date of baptism. My only source was the GRO index to identify mothers maiden name. I have checked all the relevant children and it looks like Mahon and various variations of this. Thanks to all who took the time to read my query.

Can you quote where you found these details?
