Lilian Pennington Christening Photo, October 1889 in Nottingham, England.

Hello There,
I wonder please if anyone could restore this photo I have? I would be very grateful.
The photo is of my great grandma Lilian Pennington. Her mother pictured here was Sophia Annie Pennington (1868-1905). Sophia's maiden surname was Ringrose.
Sophia married Joseph William Pennington at St. Paul's Church, Radford, Nottingham on the 17th of February 1889. They went to live in Lincoln after they were married.
My great grandma, here, Lilian was born in Lincoln on the 31st of October 1889.
Lilian was baptised in Radford, Nottingham, on the 2nd of October 1889, on the same day as her cousin Sophia May Ringrose.
When my great grandma was 76, she had written on the back of the photo.
Anyway, anything at all that could be done to improve this photo would be gratefully accepted.

I started work on this last night, but it was in quite a bad condition, so have managed to finish it now. I have cleaned it up for you and then added some colour to another one.

First of all, thank you for providing us with such a high quality (400 dpi) digital image to work on! It's a real pleasure to work on restoring a photo that still has so many fine details. There is also no 'blocking' (due to jpg compression) to speak of. In both respects this is (for Rootschat) an unusually high quality scanned photo.

I haven't often come across this kind of damage (pervasive tiny black dots) and I'm finding it a real challenge to remove/reduce the damage without losing the sharp details. I'm trying out different techniques and I'll work on it off and on during the next day or two.

What usually happens next is that other people post excellent restores that I can't hope to match or improve on
