65 Renfield Street, Glasgow

Hi - Trying to find out what building would have been at this address -  65 Renfield Street, Glasgow - in 1941. This is given as the place of death of my grandfather at 2.30, early in the morning of 21st October 1941, and was not his usual place of residence. Any clues?

from the 1941 Directory it would appear to be a tenement building or office block housing various company offices - could he have been employed as a watchman or a warden as it was war time ?

Thanks for the lead Falkyrn. I was able to find out he worked as a Clerk for the Assistance Board, which had offices on the fifth floor at that address. Quite what he was doing there in the early hours of the morning, I don't know!

Young - At 65, Renfield St., (while fire watching) on 21st Oct 1941, James Barnett Young (Late of 17th H.L.I) dearly beloved husband of Isa Wood, 49, Milnbank St., E.1. Funeral on Friday to Riddrie Park Cemetery at 3.30 pm, from the house of his sister-in-law, Mrs Huggan, 53, Deanston Drive, Shawlands.

Some of the print is very hard to read.
